FLUSHING, New York — Donna Stevens, 24, experienced a moment of embarrassment as she delivered her baby prematurely at 32 weeks. All throughout her pregnancy, the progressive woman had insisted that she didn’t care about the gender of her child as long as it was healthy.
“Well, I sure feel silly now!” chuckled Stevens, watching nurses rush her offspring to the ICU. “Who could’ve imagined this happening?”
The baby will have a higher chance of health complications because of the premature delivery. Stevens expressed concerns about respiratory issues, brain bleeding and her previous embarrassing statement.
Resurfaced posts on Facebook reveal Stevens’ former stance. One photo showed the then-expectant mother with a visible stomach bump and a caption: “Not getting prenatal gender testing! I’ll love it and just want it to be healthy!”
“You got me,” admitted Stevens. “Of course it doesn’t really matter to me. But I would have preferred, I mean, everyone would want …”
To save face, Stevens posted a picture of her baby in the ICU and the caption “<3 them so much already!”
Her doctors have not released their determination of the baby’s sex. Stevens asserts that she doesn’t care about that, as long as the baby is, well, not, like, TOO disabled.
