A local human rights activist has been diagnosed with a progressive condition doctors are characterizing as “thematically consistent” and “not what body politic or biopolitics means”.
The patient’s political views reportedly began as mild discomfort with human suffering, but has since escalated into a full-blown diagnosis of a desire for revolution against the rich. Progressive political views include the idea that instead of stabilizing existing inequalities and corporate monopolies, society should instead should constantly grow towards greater equality and wellbeing over time. This is opposed to how unregulated capitalism has been characterized as having the morality of a cancer cell, which prioritize unsustainable growth at all costs, even the death of the host.
Initially the medical condition presented as a possible allergic reaction to something in the free market. But subsequent testing revealed that cells in the patient’s body formed a union which uses collective bargaining power to dictate actions against the centralized authority of the mind. The patient described it as “Sometimes my body goes on strike through flare ups, which can get in the way of my own individual activism.”
This rare condition manifests as blood being distributed to all of the body, regardless of how productive each organ is. From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs. Additionally, their immune system may have good intentions, but the seizure of the means of anti-body production and engaging in autonomous direct action has been disruptive to overall productivity.
“She came in complaining of worsening symptoms,” said one exhausted specialist, “but every time we suggested treatment, she asked whether the medicine was ethically sourced and not contributing to worker exploitation within pharmaceutical monopolies” Rather than improving with rest, the illness appears to have spread at the same pace as the collapse of society and ecosystems under capitalism.
“We remain hopeful that one day progress can be halted or even reversed,” said one wealthy doctor.
