Squeaky Wheel Media 501(c)(3)
The Squeaky Wheel, began in 2021 as the first-ever all-disabled satire publication. In 2023, The Squeaky Wheel incorporated as Squeaky Wheel Media, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of using humor to combat ableism. In addition to our namesake publication, our organization has expanded into an international television series, a workshop program, a live comedy festival, a mutual aid program and a gift shop.
Why Squeaky?
We believe that to “Be Squeaky” is to challenge common misconceptions, call-out absurdity, criticize imbalances, and to do it all with humor. Most of all, Squeaky Wheel is a community where disabled people can come together and unite our singular frustrations as a collective power. In a time when more and more people are using comedy for evil, we believe that it can be used as a force for good.
Squeaky Wheel Media is entirely funded by donations and our various fundraising programs. All donations and proceeds we receive go directly towards our mission of empowering disabled comedy writers, educating the public about disability issues, and supporting our community.
