‘It’s Not a Disability, It’s Your Superpower!’ Says Stranger to Person Currently Having a Seizure

AUSTIN, Texas — In a touching display of optimism, local resident Dale Bennet, 52, offered words of encouragement to a complete stranger experiencing a grand mal seizure in the frozen food aisle of HEB. “It’s not a disability,” Bennet shouted over the rhythmic thumping of the woman’s head against the linoleum. “It’s your superpower!

Bennet, naturally, whipped out his phone and began filming the woman’s medical emergency. The resulting video was later uploaded to Facebook with the caption “Next time you see someone unleashing their inner superhero, don’t be afraid to cheer them on! #differentlyabled #inspiration #makingadifference.” In the video, after the seizure subsides, it cuts to a high-speed strobing montage of Bennet giving a thumbs-up to various people with disabilities.

The woman, who eventually went limp, was unavailable for comment. However, Bennet claims that she seemed grateful for his advocacy.

“I saw it — she was thanking me for my allyship with her eyes. That is, when they weren’t rolling back into her skull,” Bennet explained. “What a hero!”
