We Found an Autistic Girl Who’s Not Like Other Autistic Girls

In fact, we found many. Let’s meet them.

Meredith: A fashion blogger and a hugger who posts her brightly colored pattern-matching outfits to TikTok almost daily.

Lilit: A goth who does not “consort with dark magic like socials.” She must have a strong back, because she always carries an Oxford English Dictionary. It’s mostly for divination, she says, and so she can point to words if she needs a break “from making mouth noises at idiots.”

Karema: Holds it together well enough that no one has seen or heard her have a meltdown since she was five years old. She recommends “driving out to the desert at night. And screaming.”

Kylie: Very quick to answer her phone because if she puts it down she’ll “start having a meltdown immediately.”

Dave: A “nonbinary queen, pronouns she/they,” who proudly hauls a Squeaky Wheel backpack with stim toys in it everywhere they go.

Marissa: A hottie who wrote “none of your business” as their gender and confided that they suppress the need to stim all day at the office and then unwind in a bat cave-themed sensory retreat at home.

Madison: A bubbly eight-year-old who got us up to speed on the latest American Girl dolls in only 20 minutes. We hope society doesn’t juice all the sweetness out of her.

Melanie and Tara: Two late-diagnosis girlies (one 43, the other 27) who disagree with each other about the merits of unmasking, cannot be convinced otherwise and expect everyone to realize they are right anytime now.

Kaitlyn: An ex-Mormon nevernude who educated us about her community by pointing out, “Who doesn’t like comfortable underwear?”

Dana: From a blended East German/American family who vacations together in the nude. No itchy tags to distract the Schrinkelmeiers from their adventures!

So which autistic girl is actually not like other autistic girls? Or is it all of them? Text your answer to 1-800-U-R-RITE, or submit your guess online at http://www.autistic-traits-are-human-traits.com.
