30 Random Days Throughout the Year to Be Designated ADHD Month

The charity and advocacy group “ADHD Is” has recently announced the designation of ADHD Month in order to raise awareness of the disorder. Unlike conventional awareness months, this one is scattered throughout the year on 30 randomly selected days.

Lisa Stapleton, the charity’s CEO, said they wanted to give the general public an understanding of what it’s like to have ADHD, plus all the other months are already taken many times over by other charities and causes, plus they wanted to give people with ADHD the best chance at remembering one of the dates, plus they couldn’t decide what season would be best because they all have their merits.

After a few minutes Stapleton admitted that, while all of that was true, it just seemed like more fun to have the dates sprinkled throughout the year.

When asked how the dates were chosen, Stapleton said, “With a dartboard. We really hit the bull’s-eye with Christmas because everyone can remember Christmas. But were a bit disappointed when we got both January 27 and 28, because if we were going to get two days in a row we at least wanted them to be in a warmer month.”

The charity hopes to have activities around ADHD awareness on each of the days, but Stapleton shook her head. “That sounds like a lot of organization. It’s going to be a challenge, but it’s one we are up for thanks to our Adderall. At least for as long as we can afford the prescriptions.”
