As awareness of autism and ADHD and their presentation in minority communities has increased, diagnoses have as well. Many people have both, which they refer to by mashing the names together to become the AuDHD community, just like when chronically online people mash together the names of characters that they think should date. But why should AuDHDers get all of the fun? This is a proposal of not just ship names– but for communities based off of love affairs between disabilities.
IBSBS: Irritable Bowel/Shaken Baby Syndrome
Pronounced “I-bs-bs,” like you are calling a cat. Shaken Baby Syndrome might not even come from being shaken, but with how violently their stomachs rumble as adults, they might shake themselves into new situations every day!
EndoPression: Endometriosis and Depression
This makes it much easier to talk about depression, since it sounds like IN-Depression! Which you are, when you are depressed. Having endometriosis is hard on its own, and the difficulties it causes can make depression worse. May as well get a cute name out of all that trouble!
MAID: Muscular Atrophy and Immune Deficiency
These are more catch-all terms than direct diagnoses, but many disabled people suffer from one or both. They can make day-to-day life difficult to manage, but on the bright side, they can work at the maid cafes in the cutest outfits!
THRALL: Tourrettes, Huntingtons, Rhuematoid Arthritis, and Ligament Laxity
A small but mighty community that is welcoming, constantly inviting others in and promising that they don’t bite.
SBEVe: Spina Bifida, Eczema, Vertigo
