Most people are aware of polygamy and throuples and even the Golden Girls, but there’s another polycule you need to know about: threelies, also known as “third wheels.” When one person in a marriage requires 24-hour care, they often invite a third person into their marriage. And the effects can be dramatic and unexpected.
When Leah Turner’s disability became severe, she and her husband, Brent, invited/hired caregiver Charity Adebayo to move in with them. But they hadn’t realized the impact it would have on their relationship.
“The first thing we noticed,” said Leah, “was that with Charity wiping my ass, my husband could focus on spanking it.”
That’s not all Adebayo has brought to the relationship. She’s also introduced the Turners to some delicious Nigerian food. Now that’s spicy! Plus she helps Brent do the dishes.
The three of them do everything together: having meals, walking the dog, going to the movies. They’ve even been known to mess with people’s heads by sharing one hotel room when they go on vacation. “The look on some of the hotel receptionists’ faces is priceless, like we’re going to use the room to make a porno or something. Which we’re not, I swear,” Brent said. Adebayo smirked.
In many ways the relationship has been every woman’s dream. Leah said, “Now I have a witness to back me up when Brent says he didn’t say something when he did, and he has two people ‘reminding’ him to take out the trash so it always gets taken out on time.”
