Pharma Rep Asks Nation to ‘Consider Both Sides’ in Raising Insulin Prices by 250%

Since he retook office in January 2025, President Donald Trump has worked around the clock with pharmaceutical companies (or, at the very least, sparingly threatened them with vacuous lawsuits or late-night social media shaming) to lower prescription drug prices to levels seen in other nations. For a time when most people cannot afford to have a $500 health accident, savings on prescription bring hope for breathing room, and with it, a healthier, less irritated life.

President Trump said, “In case after case, our citizens pay massively higher prices than other nations pay for the same exact pill, from the same factory, effectively subsidized socialism aboard,” (he meant to say abroad), “with skyrocketing prices at home.” The result: as a first step, the White House made a deal with the US largest pharmaceutical providers to raise the price of insulin by 250%.

Insulin-users were stunned by the speed of the about-face, in which the President’s declaration barely survived until the end of his sentence before revealing the hidden trap. Now, an already precarious public is bracing for even more financially-strapped times ahead.

But pharmaceutical industry representative B.H. Luvum urged the nation to “consider both sides” before rushing to judgment, saying the move, “would save the country many millions of dollars, maybe even tens or hundreds of millions, in the form of profits.” He added, “it will not much take time, you’ll see it immediately, I swear, before you see the effects of this plan; it’ll turn lives around,” and, “no, I did not borrow that language from the President, it’s all on my own.”

Luvum says upcoming price plans rest on selling pharmaceuticals directly from manufacturer to patient, while offering discounts as high as 80% to consumers. This is in anticipation of an ultimate withdrawal from global supply chains and disassembling of Medicaid and Medicare, “which really is kind of a scam to take everyone’s money and leave you with no other option, I don’t know who would want to be in it, certainly not me.” For further questions, Luvum suggests visiting trumprx.gov, a new, real, and totally unironic website.
