When Chris Salk, 20, started having kidney stones on a regular basis, he immediately went to his doctor. The college student seemed to be in perfect health — taking care to stay hydrated and eat well — aside from the mysterious piss pebbles.
His doctor referred him to a urologist, who saw a very simple solution: water. “Yes, you just need to drink more water. Drink water every time you see it. Drink every drop you see. Walk outside with your mouth open when it rains and slurp it up. Just. Drink. Water,” Dr. Intex advised before chugging the contents of a full nearby water cooler.
Salk had already consumed about two liters (half a gallon in freedom units) of water that day and didn’t see how it would help, but he hoped it would drown out whatever issues he was having. He pledged to try it for three weeks, but he only made it three days and then got sick after drinking from a puddle.
We received an update from him that he’s feeling positive, or more accurately that he tested positive … for a genetic kidney condition.

The post blends humor with a twist, starting with Salk’s attempt to “drown out his issues” by drinking water, only to end with the unexpected news of a genetic kidney condition. It’s clever and engaging, but could use a bit more sensitivity about the condition.
